Is Jack Actually A. Heartwood?

Every few months the rumor returns.

Usually after sunset. Usually after a few cocktails at Jack’s Place. Usually after someone notices that the mysterious romance author A. Heartwood somehow seems to understand Solaramo Cay a little too well.

And honestly… if you were trying to guess who on the island had the best access to overheard conversations, messy relationships, second chances, secret flings, awkward first dates, emotional confessions, and late-night heartbreak?

You would probably start with Jack.

As owner, bartender, unofficial therapist, and permanent fixture behind the bar at Jack’s Place, the man has spent years quietly watching people fall in and out of love right in front of him.

So is Jack secretly writing the Solaramo Cay novels?

Those who’ve known him longest would probably laugh at the idea.

Jack is practical. Calm. Steady. He’s not exactly known for grand romantic speeches or emotional vulnerability. In fact, most regulars would say getting more than three sentences out of him at once is already a major achievement.

Still…

You cannot deny he is perfectly positioned to collect material.

And there is something suspicious about how accurately A. Heartwood captures the atmosphere of Jack’s Place after dark.

The lanterns. The conversations. The people trying to convince themselves they are only here for a vacation.

Of course, those who truly know Jack also know he definitely does not live in the famous mansion on the hill overlooking the island.

No hidden luxury estate.
No dramatic writing room.
No telescope pointed at the beach.

Jack lives in a small two-bedroom house a little farther up the shoreline than Brian and Erica’s place. Simple. Quiet. Functional. Very Jack.

Still…

The next time he wipes down the bar and casually notices two people falling in love without realizing it yet?

Maybe pay attention.

Just in case.
